First time - Primeira vez

Aqui nos Estados Unidos, pela primeira vez....
Here in the USA, for the first time in my life...

eu morei fora da Bahia;
I lived outside Bahia

eu durmi no aeroporto;
I slept on the airport

eu acampei por mais de uma noite;
I camped for more than one night

senti frio de -20º celsius e calor de 48º;
On the same year, I felt - 20c of cold and the heat of 48

fui eleita a melhor aluna na escolar;
I was elected the best student on my school

aprendi a cozinhar, limpar uma casa;
I learned how to cook and clean my home

Fiquei mais de sete meses sem ver meus pais;
Till today, I haven't seen my parents for 7 months

fiquei tanto tempo sem falar oxente;
Long time no say "oxente"

experimentei e gostei de cha matte, tomei sopa de frutos do mar;
I tasted and liked sweet tea and sea-food soup

dirigi na neve;
I drove on the snow

fiz canoagem;
I canoe

eu escrevi um blog;
I wrote a blog

li tanto sobre historia e presidentes Americanos;
I read about American history and so many American presidents

dirigi por mais de 4 horas numa Estrada;
I drove for more than 4 hours on an interstate highway

consegui pelo menos um pouquinho fazer meu pai acreditar que os Estados Unidos nao eh um pais tao ruim assim;
I got to make my father believe that USA is not a so bad place

sofri preconceito na pele por ser latina;
I faced prejudice because I am Latina

entendi o real sentido da palavra saudade;
I understood the true meaning of the world “Saudade”

entendi que na vida nuca terei tudo que quero, e o grande segredo eh lembrar que onde quer que estejamos sempre terao coisas boas;
I understood that I will never have everything we want and my big challenge is to remember that wherever I am, there are always good stuffs.

assumi que eu amo rosa;
I assumed that I love pink

me percebi uma pessoa menos consumista mesmo vivendo nos USA
I noted myself as a less consuming person even though I am in the USA where everything is too cheap

aprendi a escolher frutas, verduras, fiz supermercado;
I went shop on the supermarket and learned how to choose fruits, vegetables

tive minha casa;
I had my own house

nao tive medo de andar so a noite nas ruas;
I was not sacred to walk alone on the dark streets at night

assisti uma missa em ingles;
I went and watched a mass

comi comida koreana;
I ate Korean food

representei meu Brasil num evento;
I represented Brazil in an event

eu nao celebrei meu anivesario com minha familia e amigos;
I did not celebrate my birthday with my family and friends

vi filmes Americanos em ingles sem legenda;
I watched American films without subtitles

Conheci gente de todos continents;
I met people from all continents

Nao votei em uma eleicao;
I did not vote in one Brazilian election

Pesei mais de 66 kilos;
My weight was over 66 kilos

Viajei tanto;
I traveled too much around the USA

nao vejo o mar por mais de 7 meses
I haven't seen the ocean for 7 months

entendi que nao tem certo nem errado, so diferente
I understood that things are not right or wrong, they are only differents

Aqui vivi muita coisa pela primeira vez e sei que muitas outras coisas viram, o importante eh ter coragem para se permitir a primeira mudanca, o primeiro passo.

In the USA, I experienced a lot of stuffs for the first time and I am sure that a lot of them are still coming to my life. The important is to be courageous to make the first step…
